We continue with our day trips into DC this summer as we turn to the night and the beauty of our Nation’s Capital as we celebrate our beginnings. There is something more magical about the light we see in the night….something more filled with hope.

I have often read the follow passage with a certain amount of sadness at the thought of humanities darkness, but maybe we can see it differently:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” John 1: 1-5
So it occurred to me today that just because the darkness did not understand it, didn’t mean it was not drawn or attracted to it…didn’t mean the light of God’s love didn’t shine even more brightly because of the darkness.

May we let the light of God fill our hearts and shine into dark places to provide hope, warmth, celebration, wisdom, insight, confidence, productivity, acceptance, peace and most of all God’s love throughout the coming year.

And don’t ever stop believing…
“I’m a romantic; a sentimental person thinks things will last, a romantic person hopes against hope that they won’t”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
ps. I learned this week that F. Scott Fitzgerald’s full name was Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald because he was a relative of Francis Scott Key, writer of our National Anthem.
Happy 4th of July Weekend:))
