In Jesus’ Name: The Resurrection and Life

Am I too late to celebrate you O Savior of the World?

Christ and Child, 1873, Carl Bloch, oil on canvas, 151.5 x 62.9 inches, Image Source

*Woman why are you crying?

Have I been too caught up in the now–

in the ordinary things of this world?

I am anxious, O Lord, and I can not see you.

Who is it your are looking for, child?

Lord do you know my name?

What would you have me to do?

How can I celebrate you, dear Lord, as the Resurrection and the Life?

Jennifer, why are you still anxious?

I want to hold onto you but you are spirit and no longer flesh and I can not find your embrace.

I understand, daughter, I feel your struggle–

But don’t you know you have embraced me?

No, dear Lord, not me, I am only small…

Jennifer, you are my beloved, I see you–I touch you–I celebrate you

and I love you like no other–you are precious to me.

My treasure

My friend

My masterpiece

Dear Lord, help all who read these words to find you and hear your voice calling their name. Help us to celebrate your embrace and to live more aware of your presence all around us. For you are the breathe that quickens us…you are in all the ideas and plans we make…you are in the heart of all we desire. Keep us close. Don’t let us wander. Heal our wounds. And focus our thoughts so we might notice you in a myriad of new and exciting ways.

In Jesus Name

Amen

*Inspired by a reading of John 20: 11-19

Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer…You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. ~ Psalm 4: 1, 7-8
